an exercise in speaking into existence, vol 1

i somehow managed to see my absolute favorite entertainer TWICE in less than a month.  live, performing, with only INCHES of distance between us. not only respecting her as a beautiful, talented entertainer, she has been a long time inspiration of mine.

be warned, this is a fanboy tale, a stan story, and i am not ashamed.

since buying tickets to beyonce’s “i am…” concert in 2009, i swore that next time i saw her i would be up close and personal.  i said this so many times that not only did i convince myself that no dollar amount would stop me from achieving this feat, but that i would gladly pay whatever i needed to just to do so.  fast forward to the week of bey’s new album 4’s release in 2011. i entered a contest to see her perform here in NYC, in my neighborhood. all i had to do was say why i loved bey in less than 20 words… simple enough.

the night before the concert, i was contacted by sony music. i won the contest. i won VIP tickets to see beyonce up close and personal. i went. i saw. i listened. i screamed. i was happier than i could have ever imagined.

and i wanted more.

less than a month later, tickets went on sale for an intimate performance here in nyc. i said i would go. i would! as tickets went on sale, i stalked the ticketmaster website. after hours (literally), no success. i found out that every single ticket for four dates sold out in 22 seconds. bummer. i told myself it was okay, that if i was meant to go to the concert i would have gotten tickets. and that next time, i would be up close at her concert.  no worries.

two days later i randomly sign on to the ticketmaster website. i enter bey’s concert page and select 2 tickets. my credit card went through. i now had tickets. it somehow just went through, the concert that i just said if i were meant to go to that i would have gotten tickets to. UNREAL! and so 2 days later, i waited in the rain with the grace to my will, for HOURS in the pouring rain, to then experience the most wonderful performance ever! it just keeps getting better.

did i mention, i am going to meet beyonce? i will. soon. oh yeah.
