Typography Assignment: Create a word out of real objects.

Of course I somehow managed to do not one, but TWO of them made of food.  What can I say, the fat boy in me lives vicariously.

The concept featured here was quite a process!  I originally intended for this concept to be much larger in scale in the produce aisle of a local supermarket.  However, after lots of running back and forth, he-said-she-said between everyone who claimed to be a manager, and being turned away four times because they “did not allow photos” it became evident that I would have to adjust my concept.  I started to think of why photos of fruit in a supermarket were such a controversial topic (after the initial supermarket rejection, I called 3 other local supermarkets and got the same response) and simply could not think of a LOGICAL reason. *shrug*

A little lightbulb went off and I thought to myself, FRUIT STAND!

Sure enough, the first fruit stand I went to was right down the block from where I live and the gentleman who run/owned the stand was more than happy to let me use his produce!  In fact, he was pretty excited about my project and even offered his humble professional opinion!  Nice guy and such a sport! You can see him walking buy in the background of the shot.

My final piece, seen above, says “Fresh”.  I wanted to convey the notion of the fresh fruit and vegetables being alive and speaking to shoppers in their own environment.
